Welcome to St Lawrence Guest House - or at least to our new website which is currently under construction!  My name is Pippa ...

For those who don’t know us yet, let me give you a little bit of background.

After a series of serendipitous events my husband Philip and I came to view – and instantly fell in love with – this property.  My grandparents came from Pembroke, and so from a very young age Tenby was my summer destination – at the time a mere 4-hour drive from Cardiff where I was born and raised.  Philip was an Englishman and, having played a number of high-level rugby matches against various famous Welsh clubs, had told me that he would never live in Wales!  Nevertheless, when I insisted we brought our own children down for holidays he too fell under the spell of Pembrokeshire – particularly Tenby.

So, when we stumbled across St. Lawrence Country Guest House, just 5 minutes’ drive from the hustle and bustle of Tenby with its cobbled streets and alleyways – not to mention the harbour – and knowing it was my favourite place in the whole world, Philip agreed to up-sticks from southern England and come here.  Perhaps it helped that since the time of King John of Magna Carta fame Pembrokeshire has been known as “Little England beyond Wales”.  Indeed, most of our castles down here were built in order to keep the Welsh out!

Rich in history and even richer in terms of coast, beaches, cliffs and countryside, Pembrokeshire is a wonderful destination which we are perfectly positioned for guests to enjoy.

Now, it may seem that there is little in the way of guest's reviews over the last 3 years.

Allow me to briefly explain: prior to Covid we were very happily building a terrific business and winning awards for our brand of warm and friendly hospitality.  Indeed, when asked the

difference between a B&B and a guest house, I always say that with a bed and breakfast, you get just that – bed and breakfast (and hopefully some facilities)!  Staying at our guest house, however, means you are welcomed into our beautiful home – as our guests.  I love pampering people, and Philip always believed people should leave here feeling better than when they arrived.  With our fabulous views across the sea to Caldey Island and beyond, nothing too much trouble, and a great breakfast that filled you up for the whole day, we had landed on a good formula.

Unfortunately, before and during Covid we experienced a run of perhaps not quite such serendipitous events and Philip sadly died.  After taking some time to decide what I wanted to do and then a few years of refurbishing and regrouping, I am happy and confident to now be re-opening St Lawrence Guest House – using the same formula as devised by Philip, but with my own twist.  A few of our guests, who have become personal friends through their many visits, have been kind enough to come and stay in order to help me establish myself in my new solo role.  So, I am delighted that from mid-July this year (2023) I will once more be open and offering my own brand of hospitality to guests.  If you are reading this, I hope you may be among them!

While the website is being developed and Trip Advisor and Booking.com updated with accurate information, should you wish to know more and/or check availability, please do contact me direct (by telephone or email) and I will be more than happy to make the necessary arrangements.

In the meantime, may I wish you all the best for a happy summer – despite the rest of the world’s best efforts!

Pippa
